Pool heating can be very costly.
To help take the “chill” out of your pool, there’s a low cost solution if you have pool deck space and abundant sunlight. Depending upon the size of the pool and the flowrate, a solar pool heater mat can help to increase pool temperature by a few degrees.
One of the greatest challenges with installing one of these pool heater mats is finding a place to connect the pool heater to the pool’s filter pumping.
The easiest way to do this is to connect the heater’s piping to a return jet. For my installation, I removed the return jet and modified one of the fittings from the pool heater kit.
